Mikre is a nice picturesque village located in north central Bulgaria at the foot of the Balkan Mountains in the municipality of Ugarchin - District of Lovech. The village of Mikre is 10 miles from the Town of Ugarchin 15 miles from the City of Lovech and 23 miles from the Town of Troyan and the famous TROYAN MONASTERY.
The population of the village is approximately 155 people.
The village has all basic amenities for day to day living such as food shops, local pubs and a post office. The region has a large selection of tourist attractions including: country trails, cycling, kayak, horse-riding, canyon discovery, caving and treasure-hunts.

MUNICIPALITY OF UGARCHIN
The Municipality of Ugarchin is located in northern Bulgaria and is a municipality of the District of Lovech. Its borders are to the east - Municipality of Lovech; to the south - Municipality of Troyan; to the southwest - Municipality of Teteven; to the northwest - Municipality of Lukovit; to the north – Municipality of Pleven. The municipality of Ugarchin has 11 settlements - the town of Ugarchin (municipal centre) and the villages of Lesidren, Katunets, Kirchevo, Slavshitsa, Dragana, Golets, Mikre, Sopot, Orlyane and Kalenik.
The population of the municipality is around 7800.
Ugarchin is a town in northern Bulgaria - District of Lovech. The town is the administrative centre of the municipality of Ugarchin.
Ugarchin is situated in the northern part of the Balkan Mountains at the foot the high peaks and down the river from Kamenitsa and the tributaries Lepetora, Sveta and Greshki Dol. It is situated in a basin rounded with small hills: Ivan Dyal hill to the south; Visokata Mogila (Chukara) to the east; to the north are Beli Kamak, Sredno Bardo and the Zabiti Kamak hills; To the west are Goli Rat and Chukata.
The town is well maintained with a strong infrastructure. There are two general practitioners, a dentist, a community centre, a secondary school, a combined kindergarten, a sports complex including a sports hall with 830 seats and an Olympic-sized stadium.
There is little information about Ugarchin's past history land. Ugarchin is one of the oldest settlements in the District of Lovech. From randomly found objects and research it has been confirmed that people have lived in the area since ancient times.
About 12 miles in a southern direction is the Sopot Dam which is the fourth largest in Bulgaria - 4 miles long and 1 mile wide. This is a great place to fish, windsurf or enjoy boat trips.
There are eco-trails to the Napoya Nature Reserve, Blue Viir and Koinets. The unique cave Saeva Dupka, Troyan Monastery and the Glozhene Monastery are close and worth visiting.
The coastal City of Varna with its famous beach resorts and international airport is about 195 miles from the village.The village is only 80 miles to the capital City Sofia & International Sofia Airportand about 150 miles to the City of Bucharest (RO) and the International Airport "Otopeni". Lovech is located on the borderline between the Danube Plain and the northern foothills of the Balkan and covers the river terraces of the famous Osam River. Lovech is situated about 105 miles to the north-east of Sofia 21 miles to the north of Troyan 53 miles to the west of Veliko Tarnovo and 40 miles to the north-west of Gabrovo. It is one of the oldest and most interesting Bulgarian towns.
One of the most amazing sights to visit in Lovech is the Varosha Quarter. The Varosha Architecture-Historical Reserve is located in the old quarter of the town situated along the bank of the Osam river. Another spectacular place of interest is the Old Covered Bridge in the centre of the town. It is now a beautiful architecture bridge, with covered shops and stores, the river running below telling stories of the past !
There is a wide choice of good restaurants, pizza and fast food restaurants, cafes and bars in Lovech. Tourists have to try the traditional local specialties and of course to taste the famous Lovech Plums Brandy and the aromatic wines of the fertile region.
