MUNICIPALITY OF BYALA & REGION Byala Municipality is the doorway to the District of Ruse from west and central Bulgaria. Byala is situated in the most southern part of the district and on the crossroads between Ruse-Veliko Tarnovo and Pleven-Varna. The region is characterized by the geo-morphological features of the Danube Plain and borders the districts of Targovishte and Veliko Tarnovo. The municipality’s area is 341 sq. km. The bridge spanning the Yantra River by the Town of Byala is the work of the famous builder Kolyo Ficheto. It was built of stone in 1867 and is 267 metres long. It is said to be a technical miracle of its time!! People tell the tale of how Kolyo Ficheto accepted the commission to build a bridge across the wild waters of the Yantra. He measured the river and quickly built the bridge to receive payment. It's a must visit place!

The Nature around the city of Ruse ** Natural Park “Rusenski Lom” — The Rusenski Lom River Valley along with the tributaries Beli (White), Malki (Little) and Cherni (Black) Lom represents a unique world with remote past history. Part of the valley was proclaimed a Natural Park. The park is about 20 km to the south-west from Ruse and was created in 1970 with the purpose of preserving the canyons of the three rivers and historical landmarks.
