THE VILLAGE OF KOPRIVETS

The Village of Koprivets will give you everything you need for peaceful and healthy living! It's very picturesque and offers all basic facilities such as post office, food shops, local pub, bus services, etc. There are few lakes around the village, the biggest ones of which is “Baniska Lake” next to the village; Yantra River is not far too – only about 15 km away, offering great opportunity for fishing.

It is a lovely village situated in North Bulgaria, at about 60km to Ruse and 20km to Byala. It is nestled in the foot of the low hills named Popovsko- Samuilski Visochini, and has an ancient history. In this area were discovered amfors, vessels fragments, bricks, finger prints etc.

The village is close to the forest of Byala, a natural habitat of red deer. The area has great potential for hunting tourism as different species of ducks, partridges, pheasants and quails are bred there.

The climate is temperate continental, with typical cold winter. The wood area, that is found mostly on the hills, is caracterised by woods of oak, mixed and coniferous forests such as pine trees. On the territory of the village there are plenty of aromatic and officinal herbs (such as rose hip, camomile, mint etc.), wild fruits and flowers.

Here, migratory birds stop off, such as storks and swallows, that leave tropical Africa every spring to reproduce. Among the forest animals we can meet a wolf, a foxe, a deer. Birds, such as the wild ducks, quail and pheasants breed there. The population of the red deer in the neighbouring Byala Forest is also of interest. Carp, grey mullet, perch and others are fished in the lake near the village. The region offers great possibility for hunting tourism.

The lands, with a gentle and undulating morphology, are very fertile and this makes it possible for agriculture to flourish. The basic crops are winter wheat, maize, and sunflower, orchards, vineyards, winter barley and oats, etc. The rose growing developed successfuly in the last few years.

The gardens of the village have vegetables like tomatoes, potatoes, cucumbers, cauliflowers, peppers, aubergines, sugar beets etc. Most popular of legumes there are beans, peas, lentils. There are also typical Bulgarian fruits like peaches, apricots, cherries, apples, pears, plums, etc. The vineyards are located on the hills. The agriculture and the stock breeding enjoy an appreciate tradition.

There are amazing landscapes in the region, which will charm you with their beautiful nature, fresh air and quietness. The village is calm and picturesque.

The St. Petka Bulgarska Monastery is situated on the hill in the nortern end of the village. Nowadays, people from the village and the surrounding places come to celebrate baptisims and weddings there. There is a restaurant nearby with a name ‘Pri Snezha i Daskalov’ where one can taste traditional Bulgarian dishes. The town of Veliko Turnovo which is not far from the village offers one of the biggest choice of accommodation in the surrounding area, ranging from luxurious hotels to budget options.

The coastal City of Varna with its famous beach resorts and international airport is about 180km away.

The village is located approximately 270km to the capital City Sofia & International Sofia Airport, and about 140km away to the City of Bucharest (RO) and its International Airport "Otopeni".

The village is only about 65km to the historical and touristic City of Veliko Turnovo. Located on the famous "River Yantra" (the 3rd longest Bulgarian tributary of the Danube River), "VT" is one of the most popular destinations for tourists in Bulgaria. From its rich historical value to its thriving modern nightlife and lush natural surroundings that provide many excellent opportunities for outdoor recreational activities, Veliko Turnovo offers you everything you could ever want for the perfect holiday!! Next to Veliko Turnovo is the famous Ski Resort Uzana.

This really is a property with potential !!

Byala Municipality is the entrance door to the District of Ruse from West and Central Bulgaria. It is situated in the most southern part of the district and on the crossroad between roads Ruse-Veliko Turnovo and Pleven-Varna.

The region is characterized by the typical geo-morphological features of the Danube Plain. It borders the Districts of Targovishte and Veliko Turnovo. The municipality’s area is 341 sq. km. The municipal centre (town of Byala) is 55 km away from Ruse, 58 km away from Veliko Turnovo, 22 km away from Polski Trambesh and 53 km away from Popovo. There is a forest park and eight tourist chalets in the region of Byala forest. The existing facilities are suitable for the initiation of a hunting tourism project.

The bridge spanning Yantra River by the Town of Byala is the work of the famous builder Kolyo Ficheto. It was built of stone in 1867 and is all of 267meters long. They say that it is a technical miracle of its time!! People still tell the tale of how Kolyo Ficheto accepted the commission to build a bridge accross the wild waters of the Yantra for a definite period of time and precisely fixed sum of money. He measured the river and built the bridge with quick mastery!

It's a must visit place!

Ruse is the biggest Bulgarian river port on the Danube River, serving an important part of the international trade of the country.

Also called "The elegant Mini-Vienna" by its admirers, it's the 5th biggest city and one of the most beautiful because of its unique architecture.

Ruse occupies a significant place in the Bulgarian national history and has a rich cultural-historical heritage — a potential needed for the development of cultural tourism. As a settlement, Ruse has a very rich, millennial history.

The Nature around the city of Ruse

** Natural Park “Rusenski Lom” — The Rusenski Lom River Valley, along with its tributaries Beli (White), Malki (Little) and Cherni (Black) Lom represents a unique world in itself in which the amazing nature is entwined into out remote past history. Part of the valley was proclaimed a Natural Park. The park is located at about 20 km to the south-west from Ruse. It was created in 1970 with the purpose of preserving the canyons of the three rivers, their flora, fauna and historical landmarks. The rivers have created incredibly beautiful gorges into the limestone rock foundation. It is genuine joy for the eyes and real paradise for rock climbers.

** Natural landmark “Orlova Chuka” Cave - located on the left shore of the Cherni Lom river. It's the 2nd longest cave in Bulgaria (13 438 m in length), representing a complex labyrinth of interweaving galleries, tunnels, abysses, big and small halls.

** Lipnik Forest Park: the park is a big site for recreation, sports, tourism, sunbathing and all other kinds of entertainment, situated at the distance of 12 km east of Ruse. There are country houses, restaurants, artificial lakes, a hotel, a zoo corner, a sports base and a camping site. Its serenity and fresh air attract citizens & foreigners. This is a wonderful place for fishing, water sports, walking and just enjoying the day.

The villages in the region are capturing the tourists with the picturesque nature, the rock landscape and the breath-taking views and the plenty of opportunities for hiking, riding and biking experiences. The surrounding area offers different ways to spend your free time and to enjoy the beauty of the region.

The closest ski resort to Ruse is in "Uzana" (pics below), the geographic center of Bulgaria, located at about 28 miles from Veliko Turnovo. There are several hotels in the resort which provide tourism opportunities and good conditions for relaxation among the quiet and calm atmosphere of the mountain throughout the year. The surrounding sites of Uzana are suitable for spaleology and rock climbing. There are possibilities for cultural tourism in the region. In the nearby open-air "Ethnographic Museum Etara" people can learn more about Bulgarian crafts. The "Sokolski Monastery" is situated a few miles away from Uzana.
