Village of Butovois located 30 miles north-west from the historical city of Veliko Tarnovo and 6 miles from the Town of Pavlikeni -

about 140 miles south-west to the capital City of Sofia.
The village is situated in the Danube plain. The river Lomya passes through the village.
The population is about 900 people.
Butovo has a well developed infrastructure and redevelopment.
There are a food shops, restaurant, post office, petrol and gas stations, community center and a church.
The village has a kindergarten and the nearest schools are in the village of Varbovka and the Town of Pavlikeni.
Butovo has a regular bus service.
Nearby are two important roads in the country - the highway Sofia-Veliko Tarnovo-Varna is 20 miles south of
the village and the international road Sofia-Pleven-Ruse-Bucharest is located 10 miles north.
TOURISM AND ATTRACTIONS:
During excavations in the village three were discovered tombs and artifacts with jewellery and coins from the Thracian times in
the IV century BC. Today those items can be found at Veliko Turnovo Archaeological Museum.
An interesting fact is that in the area "Chatala" (located near the Butovo) there was a volcano two million years ago.
At the moment water springs from its foot which is said to have healing properties.
PAVLIKENI & REGION Pavlikeni Municipality is situated in the North-Central region of the country. It occupies the west-central part of Veliko Turnovo District. The Town of Pavlikeni is situated in the central part of the Danubian Plain, a distance of about 2 miles north of the Rositsa River and very close to the Karaisen Lake. It's near the cities of Veliko Turnovo, Levski, Sevlievo and Byala. In the nearby open-air "Ethnographic Museum Etara" people can learn more about Bulgarian crafts. The "Sokolski Monastery" is situated a few miles away from Uzana.
