Based on the importance and uniqueness, Persina Natural Park has been declared a Ramsar site.

THE VILLAGE OF PETOKLADENTSI

The village is quiet and very peaceful and is part of the Belene Municipality in the Pleven District North-Western Bulgaria.

It's located in the Danubian plain in proximity to Osam River's flow and its altitude is between 100 and 199m. The climate is temperate and is characterized by cold winter and hot summer.

In the village there are shops, bars, cafe and a post office etc. Bus transportation connects the village to the other settlements. The main streets are asphalted and with lightning. All mobile operators have coverage.

On a hill near the village is located one of the few menhirs in Bulgaria. Its height is 2,20 m and represents rough stone block without any treatment with quadrilateral shape, tapered at the top. This pagan monument was revered as holy by the Christians and was renamed Praviya kamak.

The Danube River with its impressive width near the Town of Belene, with beautiful banks and slow flow and only 12 miles from the village, and the Osam River next to the village offer opportunities for the development of hunting, fishing, water sports and route tourism. .

The most interesting touristic sight on the territory of the municipality is the Natural Park Persina. It encompasses the 19 Belenski islands. It is unique and significant ecologically for here are located three biosphere reserves:

- Persinski marshes - wet zone with international significance that is inhabited by many colonies of marsh birds. It is breeding sight of the mute swan and unique gathering place in the autumn for the black stork.

- Milka and Kitka - encompass the eponymous islands of the archipelago and include preserved floodplain forests from white willow and poplar. Here are nesting pairs of sea eagles very rare species included in the "Red Book of Bulgaria" and in the book "Endangered birds in Europe".

- protected area Kaikusha - remains of wet zone in the Svishtovsko-Belenskara low land.

The village is located only 25 miles to the City of Pleven and approximately 107 miles to the capital City Sofia & International Sofia Airport, and only 95 miles away to the City of Bucharest (RO) and its International Airports "Otopeni" and "Baneasa".

The village is quiet and very peaceful and is part of the Belene Municipality in the Pleven District North-Western Bulgaria.

There are shops, bars, cafe and a post office etc. The area is suitable for hunting as well as water sports and fishing - it is only 2 miles to the Osam River and 12 miles to the Danube River.

The coastal City of Varna with its famous beach resorts and international airport is about 141 miles away.

The village is located only 25 miles to the City of Pleven and approximately 107 miles to the capital City Sofia & International Sofia Airport, and only 95 miles away to the City of Bucharest (RO) and its International Airports "Otopeni" and "Baneasa".

Petokladentsi is also close to the City of Svishtov. The city is situated in the northernmost part of Veliko Turnovo District and borders through the Danube River the Republic of Romania. This is where the southernmost point of the Danube River is located. This is one of the leading industrial and agricultural centers in Veliko Turnovo District. SVISHTOV & REGION

Svishtov Municipality is situated in the northernmost part of Veliko Turnovo District and borders through the Danube River the Republic of Romania. This is where the southernmost point of the Danube River is located. It's one of the leading industrial and agricultural centers in Veliko Turnovo District.

In its territory there are presently 120 official archaeological, art and architectural monuments of culture of local and national significance. The "Town Museum of History", the "Ethnographic Museum", the "Aleko Konstantinov House-Museum" in which the heart of the great Bulgarian is preserved in a glass vessel; the "Holy Trinity Church" which is the most interesting architectural monument; and many others.


BELENE & REGION

Petokladentsi is located only about 8 miles from the Town of Belene, situated on the right bank of the Danube River and close to the City of Svishtov. Belene was proclaimed a town in 1964 and this is celebrated every year in the first week of September with a market and cultural events. The major natural wealth in Belene Municipality is "Persina Natural Park". The Belene Danube archipelago consisting of 19 islands falls within the borders of the Municipality and the Park. One of them is the "Island of Persin" - the largest Bulgarian Danube Island which the Natural Park was named after; the island is of 15 km length and 6 km maximum in width. Also known as "Island of Belene" it is formed by the Danube River splitting into two branches passing north and south of it.

The island is an important habitat for a number of threatened bird species. Several protected areas are situated in this region. Tourist attractions: a bird -watching point on Golyama Barzina Island; a place for recreation and fishing near the firth; cycling route from Persina enterprise to Kaykousha plant; a fishermen settlement in the Hissarlaka locality.



PLEVEN & REGION

Pleven is the 7th most populous city in Bulgaria. Well known as a major economic centre of the Bulgarian Northwest and Central North and the 3rd largest city of Northern Bulgaria after Varna and Ruse. Located in the northern part of the country, it is the administrative centre of Pleven District, as well as of the subordinate Pleven Municipality.

Pleven is located in an agricultural region in the very heart of the Danubian Plain, the historical region of Moesia, surrounded by low limestone hills, the Pleven Heights. The city's central location in Northern Bulgaria defines its importance as a big administrative, economic, political, cultural and transport centre. Pleven is located about 100 miles away from the capital City of Sofia, approximately 195 miles west of the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast and about 30 miles south of the Danube River. The River Vit flows near the town and the tiny Tuchenitsa River crosses it.

The Pleven Regional Historical Museum is a very popular tourist attraction while the Svetlin Rusev Donative Exhibition, situated in the former public baths, exhibits works by Bulgarian artists as well as noted Western European art figures like Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Renato Guttuso and many others. The Ivan Radoev Dramatic Theatre is the centre of theatrical life in Pleven.

Pleven is often regarded as an important centre of sports in Bulgaria. The sports school in Pleven is thought of as one of the most prominent in the country. Pleven is also famous for its Kaylaka (where the ruins of the Storgosia fortification can be found) and Skobelev parks. The later is home to the Pleven Panorama and is situated on the original location of the battle during the Russo-Turkish War.

The District of Pleven is crossed from south to north by the Rivers Iskar, Vit and Osam (in west-east order); the river valleys are separated by limestone plateaus.
